wELCOME TO OUR HOME

welcome to our home

We are a family business, providing supported accommodation to people who are experiencing mental illness, have an acquired brain injury or intellectual disability.

Our goal is simple – to support our people to live the best life they can.

We work hard to create a happy and harmonious environment. Before we welcome anyone to our home we make sure that they will fit in with our people. Some of our people have made Brook-Lyn their home for over fifteen years, and we choose not to offer short-term respite - all part of offering our people a consistent and stable environment that supports their ambitions and goals.

All our rooms are fully furnished.  We provide three nutritionally balanced meals a day in our dining room. There are three other communal areas where people can socialise: a living room and two outdoor areas, with a dedicated smoking area.

A team member is onsite overnight in case anyone needs support.

Location

We are ideally located on Henley Beach Road just a bus ride from everything our people need to maintain their independence.  There are bus stops in both directions directly outside our home; it’s just 15 minutes to the city and 5 minutes to the beach.   There are also direct buses to Harbour Town and West Lakes for access to shopping and entertainment.

Meet the team

We are a small caring team: Kelly, Jeremie and Dona have all been part of our team for over ten years. Lovepreet and Siobhan have been in our team for over three years, and in the past twelve months we have welcomed Manpreet and Mudassar on board.

Because we are a family business, our small team knows everyone in our home, their routines, their likes and dislikes; so we can provide individualised and proactive support to everyone. We speak multiple languages including Auslan.

Support

Brook-Lyn is a Supported Residential Facility (SRF). This means that as well as accommodation, we offer a range of daily services alongside social support, positive behaviour support and assistance with budgets.

  • Bedroom cleaning and laundry service

  • Assistance with personal care and daily living

  • Medication management and assistance

  • Transport to the GP, as and when people need appointments, with prescriptions being delivered the same day to our home

  • Allied Health professionals regularly visit our home

We are ASES accredited and an NDIS registered provider and have strong relationships with the NDIA, DHS and Department of Mental Health.

Social Life

Our people are supported to take part in group or independent social outings and programs.

Our Social Group meets regularly, and everyone who wants to, can offer suggestions on where we should go. Favourite locations are the beach, Adelaide Central Market, walks in Linear Park and the cinema.

Many of our people also take advantage of free council run groups. Others have joined the travel club and take paid day trips across the state.

Why we love the ndis

I Heart NDIS.png

We love the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) as it matches our philosophy: treating people as individuals and supporting them to achieve their goals.

The NDIS is a new way to pay for services, so that people living with disability get a say in what help and services they need. We help our residents prepare for their plan meeting to align their goals with what that they like to do.

You can find out about the NDIS here.

The Brook-Lyn fee schedule for NDIS participants can be found here.
